Sunrise Collagen Glow Smoothie

Wake up and glow! This original sunrise-inspired smoothie layers the tropical sweetness of mango and pineapple with the earthiness of flaxseed and a hint of ginger warmth. Unlike typical collagen smoothies, this recipe uses coconut water as its base for extra electrolyte hydration β€” making it ideal after a morning workout or as a skin-nourishing breakfast on the go. The vibrant orange hue mirrors the sunrise, and the nutrients inside are just as radiant.

Health Benefits

  • Collagen Powder – Rebuilds skin structure, supports cartilage, and promotes stronger nails and hair.
  • Mango – Loaded with Vitamins A and C, which are critical for collagen production and skin repair.
  • Pineapple – Contains bromelain, a natural enzyme that reduces inflammation and aids protein digestion.
  • Coconut Water – Rich in electrolytes like potassium and magnesium to keep you hydrated and energized.
  • Flaxseed – Packed with omega-3 fatty acids and lignans that balance hormones and reduce skin dryness.
  • Fresh Ginger – A powerful anti-inflammatory that boosts circulation and gives skin a natural glow.
  • Turmeric – Contains curcumin which fights oxidative stress and supports joint health alongside collagen.

🧾 Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp unflavored collagen powder
  • ΒΎ cup frozen mango chunks
  • Β½ cup frozen pineapple chunks
  • 1 cup coconut water
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseed
  • Β½ tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • ΒΌ tsp turmeric powder
  • ΒΌ cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp raw honey

Instructions

  1. Freeze your fruits – If not pre-frozen, freeze mango and pineapple overnight. Frozen fruits give the smoothie its thick, frosty texture without needing ice, which can dilute flavor.
  2. Build the base – Pour coconut water and fresh orange juice into the blender. This Vitamin C-rich base boosts collagen absorption.
  3. Add fruits and boosters – Add frozen mango, pineapple, ground flaxseed, grated ginger, and turmeric powder on top of the liquid base.
  4. Sweeten and add collagen – Drizzle in raw honey, then sprinkle collagen powder over everything. Adding collagen last ensures even blending.
  5. Blend on high – Blend on high speed for 50–60 seconds until silky smooth. The mixture should turn a deep golden-orange. Add a splash of coconut water if too thick.
  6. Serve and garnish – Pour into a chilled glass and garnish with a thin orange slice and a light dusting of turmeric. Enjoy immediately!

Tips & Variations

  • Swap mango for papaya β€” it contains papain enzyme which works similarly to bromelain for digestion.
  • For a creamier version, add 2 tbsp of coconut cream.
  • This smoothie pairs beautifully with a light breakfast like rice cakes or whole grain toast.
  • Avoid adding dairy to this recipe as it can interfere with bromelain activity from the pineapple.
