Turmeric Roasted Cauliflower

Crispy, caramelised edges with a golden spiced coating. The best side dish you're not making enough.

Serves: 4

Ingredients

1 kg cauliflower, cut into florets

     2 tbsp olive oil

     1½ tsp turmeric powder

     1 tsp ground cumin

     ½ tsp smoked paprika

     ¼ tsp ground black pepper

     1 tsp salt

Method

1.  Preheat oven: Preheat oven to 220°C (200°C fan). Line a large baking tray.

2.  Season florets: Toss cauliflower with olive oil, turmeric, cumin, smoked paprika, pepper, and salt until evenly coated.

3.  Roast: Spread in a single layer. Roast for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden and caramelised.

4.  Serve: Serve hot. Pairs well with yoghurt dip, tahini, or as a side to any protein.

Tip: Don't overcrowd the tray — space florets out so they roast, not steam. Flip halfway for even caramelisation.

Health Facts

Cauliflower: Excellent source of vitamin C, K, and folate. High in choline which supports brain health and liver detoxification.

Turmeric + heat: Gentle roasting does not significantly degrade curcumin and actually improves its flavour profile.

Smoked paprika (capsaicin): Contains antioxidants including vitamin A and carotenoids that support eye and skin health.

Cumin: Supports digestive enzyme activity, may help reduce LDL cholesterol, and is rich in iron.
