We have a beautiful standardbred horse named Dean. He came to us with his name and tail rubbed raw from the itch. Last summer we gave Dean a heaped tablespoon of Turmeric in his daily feed. Now he has a tail with hair and has started to grow a mane. We tried many remedies but none worked. Turmeric is in a league of its own.

Pet Immunity & Recovery

Who knew that a small yellow/orange root-like turmeric could be so beneficial to your pet? In addition to its powerful anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antioxidant properties, it’s stimulating effect on the digestive system makes it excellent for gut health.

Almost 90 percent of an animal’s immune system is in the wall of the intestines, meaning gut health is extremely important! Without a healthy balance of good bacteria within their digestive tract, animals immune systems cannot function efficiently. Similarly to humans, antibiotics are notorious for disrupting gut health in animals. If you’re furry-friend has recently had an operation or infection and has been prescribed antibiotics, it would be worthwhile incorporating a Probiotic to their recovery regime.

“As a veterinarian, keeping your pet healthy is my number one priority. Pets suffer from many illnesses that can result in compromised health, just like us. With the assistance of naturally sourced products such as Turmeric, your pet can be on the road to recovery a lot sooner.”
– Dr Andy Pieris BVSc (hons).

Aging Pets

Nutrition is important for animals, just like it’s important for humans especially throughout the aging process. Turmeric has shown to support animals with age related ailments such as mouth hygiene (bad breath and bleeding gums), sight and hearing degeneration (loss of hearing and dry eyes) as well as organ function (kidney, heart and bowels).

Just like humans, as our pets age, they will be affected by a myriad of health concerns. Exercise, nutrition and diet all play a major role in keeping your pets happy and healthy into their golden years.

Heart-Warming Story

Dixie came into my life three years ago, I was her foster mum originally, but I knew pretty quickly that it was only the beginning for us. She had been surrendered to a shelter due to some issues she had with her legs. She had been hit by a car when she was a puppy, and her front legs hadn’t healed correctly meaning she had a limp and would often trip or fall over causing her joints to flare-up with inflammation and become painful and stiff.

I was meant to be fostering her for one week until the vet could do a full assessment of her legs and decide if operating would be the best course of action. She was the sweetest most gentle giant, and I knew by day three, that I wanted to adopt her and would do whatever I could to ensure she was pain-free and able to live her best doggy life.

After the vet did a full assessment, she warned me that although they could operate on her legs, it would be a costly exercise and her recovery would be slow. They also couldn’t guarantee that the operation would be successful. My parents thought I was crazy, but I knew I had to try. Two weeks later I was dropping Dixie off to have the first of the operations she had to have.

I did A LOT of research on natural remedies and alternative products that I could give her to help support her body in its recovery. Two things that kept coming back up were; Turmeric and Probiotics. I delved deeper into my research and found an Australian supplier of Organic Turmeric, and they also made a Pet Probiotic – JACKPOT!

Dixie’s recovery was slow but not nearly as slow as the vet predicted, at her two-weeks post-op check-up the vet was impressed by how quickly the swelling had gone down and that there was very little inflammation. She was also surprised that Dixie hadn’t reacted (diarrhoea) to the antibiotics. I explained that she had Probiotics in her breakfast and Golden Paste in her dinner every night.

Dixie recovered well and is as active as any other five-year-old pooch at the beach. She does still get a little stiff when the weather is cooler but other than that; you would have no idea that this beautiful girl almost lost her life because of her legs.
