Peace, Love & Christmas

Peace, Love & Christmas

I swear the world is speeding up. Every year seems to go by more quickly than the last and before we know it Christmas is here once more. Yet upon reflection so much has happened and we have all experienced some incredibly challenging times since this time last year.

Many of us were separated from our loved ones last Christmas by border closures and distance, and many of us are looking forward to reuniting with family and friends again. So, it makes sense that this Christmas is a time for healing, a time for forgiveness and a time for accepting the differences that inevitably make us unique.

So, let’s make this Christmas a big deal, let’s deck the halls, and trim the tree, bake some biscuits, and invite the neighbours for tea. Reconnect with friends and family far away, make the phone call and spread some Christmas cheer into the hearts of those who need it most.

We cannot change ‘the’ world, but we can choose to change ‘our’ world and find peace, love, and happiness with those we choose to share our life with. Life is way too short to waste valuable time and energy feeling resentful, angry, and lonely.

And let’s make an extra special effort to show our appreciation to the elderly people in our life, whether that be our ageing parents, neighbours, or someone you know without family ties, the smallest gesture or just a kind word can be the difference between a good day and a great day.

There is something magical about Christmas because it fills me with the hope that there is more love in the world during this time and the possibility of great things to come with the start of a new year. If we could somehow manage to maintain this level of love, imagine how much better our lives and relationships would be, imagine how much better our world could be?

And just because we are spreading the love doesn’t mean we have to spread our waistlines. Don’t let all your good work unravel during the holiday season. In fact, this is the perfect time to get a head start on those pesky New Year resolutions that never eventuate. You can have a healthy Christmas and still enjoy the trimmings, just be sure to include some summer salads, juicy fruits, and quality proteins, that way there is always room for a prosecco or two.

Slow down and recharge, reward yourself with time in nature, on the beach, walking, swimming, or moving your body in a way that makes you feel good. Switch off your devices and be present in the moment, because before you know it, 2023 will be here and life will get busy again.

The world will keep spinning and time stands still for no man (or woman). We all have 24 hours in our day, we all have the same amount of time, so make the most of every minute and choose to be the very best version of yourself, happy and healthy all year through.

Choose peace this Christmas, choose love, and let the magic of Christmas into your heart.

Merry Christmas everyone x
